GRADINGS

The Kickboxing programme has a full grading structure from white belt to black belt.  We grade 3 times a year to test the level the student is at.  Grading is not obligatory but we have found that it helps the student progress faster and keeps their focus and motivation.

TIME TO TEST WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN LEARNING

FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT CLUB

Once a month we come together on a Friday Night and put the months training to test.
Friday Night Fight Club is a dedicated 1 hour session of pure sparring.
We go harder than in classes, and really test where our skill and grit levels are.
This is open to all members and also non members from other clubs.
We still ensure that everyone is respectful and different levels of ability are adjusted for, but it is a good hard kickboxing session and is looked forward to and feared by all participants.

PHIL NORMANS GHOST ELUSIVE COMBAT

WE ARE PROUD TO BE AN AFFILIATE CLUB OF THE GHOST FIGHTING SYSTEM

Ghost is an elusive striking system, developed over two decades of competition fighting and experience. With all things being equal, Ghost enables you strike an opponent with minimal return, leaving an opponent bruised and confused and often trying to play catch up.

This unorthodox system teaches you dynamic striking angles whilst utilising evasive movement, leaving the person in front of you hitting thin air and feeling like they are fighting a ghost!

 PUNCHING

Our Kickboxing programme uses western boxing as the main structure of our hand striking, we also add elements from Kali and Ghost Elusive Combat to make our punches effective and efficient, elusive and accurate.

 KICKING

We take kicks from Karate, Muay Thai, Savate and Taekwondo, this gives us a large range of leg techniques to attack with.  Even if you are not flexible kicks to your opponents legs are just as effective as higher kicks.

 CLINCH

We use clinch (grappling) techniques from Muay Thai for when the fight gets up close.  From here we can use elbows, knees and sweeps to attack our opponent.  The clinch is an essential part in being a complete fighter (or is just good hard fun).

 PAD WORK

We use focus mits, Thai pads, kick shields and punch bags to build striking power and targeting. This allows a safe way to train kickboxing and a great way to work off the weeks tensions, It also develops accuracy and timing.

 SPARRING

Sparring is developed in a progressive way, starting with light contact for beginners and building as students get more experienced to semi and full contact if people wish. We make sure that people leave their egos at the door when they train as everyone is there to have fun and develop safely.

 FITNESS

Technique and skill is one thing but if you cannot last more than 30 seconds without gassing then you are in trouble.  Fitness is essential to our training and all the pad work, sparring and partner drills are mixed with traditional fitness elements to get you fighting fit.

Tristan

Lee is the most friendly instructor I think I have ever had. Lee is extremely capable and a very natural martial artist and a great and patient instructor. His classes have a great vibe and you feel right at home very quickly. Kickboxing classes have a great dynamic and meet the requirements of all levels.

Rob

CDA is just what I was looking for in a club after a lay off from martial arts of nearly 20 years. Lee is a great instructor and makes you feel at home straight away. Everyone is very friendly and the training is very varied and interesting.

TIME TO GET FIGHTING FIT!

HARD AND REWARDING PHYSICAL TRAINING

Kickboxing provides an aerobic workout that burns calories and can help you lose weight. Research shows that elite and amateur kickboxers have more muscle mass and lower percentages of body fat. A person who weighs 70 kg can burn 372 calories during just 30 minutes of kickboxing.
Kickboxing training helps to build muscle mass, boosts your metabolism and pushes your body to lose weight even faster. Moreover, it is a great cardio workout, which means it can help to tone your body faster than other forms of exercise. Kickboxing is particularly helpful in toning the belly and love handles

Do i have to do sparring?

Sparring is an integral and essential part of Kickboxing, it is like training football and never playing a match.  However the contact level is up to you, and we make sure nobody is fighting harder than they are comfortable with.  If you don't want to spar and just want fitness, then try out our Cardio K-Box programme instead!

Can i have a FREE trial?

YES we offer a no obligation FREE trial to try out our martial arts, kickboxing, self defence and children's classes.
Just fill out the contact form and we will be in touch.

What kit do i need to train?

Initially a pair of boxing gloves or bag mits are needed, then a gum shield, groin guard, and shin guards.  All of which we sell in our pro shop.  But this can be purchased over time.  We can lend you a pair of gloves for your trial, and a gum shield is a few quid!

I am not very flexible, will i be alright with all the kicking?

YES as alot of the kicking we do is below the belt.  Having the ability to kick to the head in kickboxing is great, and gives you more options.  We have stretching sessions and can help you with that, but low kicking is fine so flexibility will not hold you back.

In our kickboxing classes everyone can go at their own pace, we will encourage and push you along, but we have a real mixed group.  Your fitness will improve the more you train, and you will see massive growth and development in a short space of time.

How fit do i have to be to take part?
